John Brown Farm State Historic Site

Visit the John Brown Farm State Historic Site which includes the home and final resting place of famous abolitionist John Brown. The simple farm is located on John Brown Road in the town of North Elba, three miles southeast of Lake Placid, where John Brown moved in 1849 to teach farming to African Americans. After touring the small home, take a brisk hike along the Potato Field and Maple Grove Trail Loop on the property. It's two and a half miles with excellent birding and some lovely views of the area.
