After breakfast, check out from the hotel and get ready to spend a good part of the day exploring the walking trails and lakeshore at Fort Mountain State Park nearby. You can park at any of the parking lots inside the park, leading to picnic areas and trail markets.
This historic area was once home to Cherokee Indians, and you can hike up to see the stone tower and lookout deck offering panoramic views of the surrounding Chattahoochee National Forest. You need a minimum of two hours to see the overlook deck but can spend an entire day if you want to explore the many trails.
