The Ancient remains of the Fortaleza or "Fortress" is an imposing figure high on the hill above Velez-Malaga. Here it has stood watch over Velez-Malaga for more than 1,000 years.
Originally built by the Moors to subdue the local population and keep an eye on any troublemakers, today you can enjoy this view for yourself.
Do climb the tower where you'll be spoilt with views of the mountains, the Mediterranean Coast and even the pueblo blanco, Comares, far off in the distance.

Return to the parking area of the Fortress to collect your car and drive to Torre del Mar.
