Leaving Texas for the Relaxing Waters of Hot Springs

It's time to get out of Dodge, or Dallas, to visit the refreshing and replenishing hot springs in Arkansas. On your way out, enjoy a little bit of Texas history at the Audie Murphy museum before you dip your toes all the way into enjoying the sights, sounds, and waters of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

    Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum

This museum in Greenville, Texas packs a one-two punch of memorabilia around one of Texas's beloved sons, Audie Murphy, and cotton, which was a huge crop for East Texas. We suggest sticking to the part about Murphy and the military in the time allotted — this is his hometown and they have tons of artifacts from his time as a WWII hero, and a few from his career as an actor.
Open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m; closed Sundays, Mondays and major holidays.

    Randy's Smokehouse & BBQ

A Texas road trip doesn't feel complete without some barbecue from a hole-in-the-wall joint. Randy's is that experience. Order up a plate of the sliced brisket with your favorite sides or, for the most authentic North Texas barbecue experience, try the burnt ends, which are the fatty end-pieces of the brisket. They're crunchy and delicious.
Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday.
