A Day in Wicklow
Today, you'll be heading down the East Coast to the town of Wicklow, where you will enjoy a few of the sights this quaint Irish town has to offer!

Black Castle
Start your day with a trip to Black Castle!
After the arrival of the Normans in 1169, Norman stone castles began cropping up all over the country!
Black castle was built around that time by Baron Maurice Fitzgerald to offer protection to the coastline.
It has a rich history, having been attacked many times by local chieftans, most notably those of the O’Byrne and O’Toole clans and in 1301 they succeeded in totally destroying the castle!
From the ruin today you have fantastic views of the town and the North coast of Wicklow!

Built in 1781, this beautiful stone lighthouse has been safeguarding the shores of Wicklow for over 200 years!
It offers fantastic views of the coast and out across the Irish sea. It is a very peaceful place to sit and reflect!
Unfortunately, you cannot go inside, unless you rent it to stay! However it is still a great place to relax and take a moment to enjoy the breathtaking scenery!

Your final stop before dinner!
You couldn't possibly come to the coast and not make a stop at the beach! Head to Silverstrand a fantastic, sheltered beach that can be accessed via one of the two campsites that sit on the coastline above.
Parking is available at the campsite parking for around £10.
This beach, regarded as one of the best in Ireland, is the perfect place to build up an appetite for dinner! Go for a swim, throw around a frisbee or simply relax with a good book!
