Herzapfelhof Lühs is one of the area's largest and most popular orchards!
Best visited in the Autumn when the trees are full of delicious ripe apples, this huge orchard is a delightful place to stroll through the rows of apple trees and fill a basket with a selection of the delicious, fresh fruit on offer!

While the region is undoubtedly best known for it's rolling orchards and fresh fruit, Altes Land actually has a rich maritime history!
Here, you can learn more about the seafaring culture that has existed for centuries along the River Elbe!
This heritage is visible in the historical ships, granaries and old cranes that can be found dotting the shores of the river.
At this Maritime Museum, you will find a fascinating exhibition that showcases the links between Altes Land and sailing over the years!

Twielenflether Lighthouse is another of the area's maritime highlights.
This lighthouse guided ships along the Elbe for over 100 years before it was decommissioned in 1984, in favour of a newly built lighthouse on the Elbe Dike.
Now the lighthouse houses a fascinating exhibition on the changes that shipping in the Altes region has experienced over recent decades!
Every Wednesday from April to October, you have the chance to participate in a small guided tour!
