This one-day route proposes a visit to the island's capital, Maó and the Fortress of La Mola.     Then, the proposal is to visit and relax on the beach of Son Bou, one of the longest on the island, and in the coves of Galdana and Macarella. You can also try your hand at some water sports.
    This route can be done all year round, but it is advisable to avoid the colder months. Don't forget to bring your beach gear!

    On this road trip through a part of Menorca, you will drive to the capital of the island to visit its harbour and markets in the morning. Afterwards, you can visit the fortress of La Mola which you can drive around in an all-terrain electric vehicle.
    After lunch, the proposal is to visit some postcard-perfect coves and beaches, such as Cala Galdana, Cala Macarella, Macarelleta and Son Bou beach. In some of them you can rent a kayak or go snorkelling. Before reaching the beach, you'll take a walk through Binibeca, a small "white village" of Menorca that you will fall in love with.     The proposal is to take a walk through part of the centre and along the waterfront. To do so, you can start by seeing the Church of San Francisco. It was built in 1459 by the Franciscan order, and the monks stayed at the convent until 1835 when they were forced to leave due to ecclesiastical confiscations ordered by Mendizábal. Since then, the ownership of the building was transferred to the City Council, and now the Museum of Menorca is located there.

    It's time for lunch! You can drive to El Castells, a village of British origin, which was first called Georgetown and then Villacarlos (after Charles III, whose troops recovered the island for Spain in 1782).
    You can stroll around the centre or go straight to lunch somewhere along the coast, for instance to the restaurant Ana Luisa.

    The next stop is the white village of Binibeca, which is known as Binibeca Vell (Old Binibeca). This place is actually a housing estate, but it looks like the old part of a village. The houses are all white (even the roofs) and have wooden balconies.
    You can go to Cala Toret, at the entrance of the urbanization, and leave your car in that area where there is a parking space.
    The suggestion is that you take a stroll through the streets of this urbanization, visit its church, its square and its jetty. You can also look out over the cove or walk a few more minutes to the Binibeca beach.

    If you arrive a little earlier (because you spent less time elsewhere) or if there are still a few hours left before it gets dark, you can do the 40-minute walk that connects the cove of Galdana with the cove of Macarella. This path is part of the horse trail, which links many coves and beaches all around the island. Please keep in mind the time to get there and back.
    If you prefer not to hike, you can take advantage of the time to go kayaking, sailing or snorkelling. There are several places offering these services. Or you can simply enjoy the sand and the sea.
