- Meet the vikings and learn how they used to live in the Iron Age at a fjord-side Viking Village.
- Go musk ox spotting in the Dovrefjell National Park.
- Drive down the winding Trollstigen, one of the world's most famous roads.
The vikings were an important part of Norwegian history and a newfound interest in them has sparked thanks to the many new TV shows that feature these seafaring marauders. Western Norway is a known mecca for viking history with graveyards, uncovered ships, artefacts, and even an entire city called Trondheim which was founded by King Olav Tryggvasson, a viking king.
Research from the old viking sagas tell us that the Trondelag and Nordjfordeid regions were especially important during the time of the vikings. On this four-day itinerary, you'll don your helmets and become a viking as you charge forth from Bergen to Trondheim. On day 1 you'll visit a real viking village in the valley of the vikings and learn about their way of living. Day 2 takes you to the Dovrefjell National Park where you'll hopefully meet some furry creatures who have been around way longer than our famous sea warriors. On day 3 you'll hold onto your seats as you take on the twists and hairpin bends of the famous Trollstigen. The final day of your trip will have you enjoying local fine dining cuisine and going on a leisurely forest hike with a view.
