From Geneva to Montreux: Swiss Part

Today you will travel around the Swiss part of the Leman Lake. You will have the chance to witness the history of the region, from the medieval ruins at Nyon, to the Medieval Castle of Chillon. A small lovely medieval village and wine tasting in the World Heritage region of Lavaux are waiting for you.
    10:0030 min

    Chateau de Nyon

The gorgeous town of Nyon is in a privilege area in the lake. And Julio Cesar thought the same as he founded here the origin of the town you will enjoy today.
The medieval castle, in the center of the old town, is a good example of the Swiss stile. The best are the magnificent views you will enjoy from the terrace of the castle, you will see the lake with the Alps behind and a beautiful perspective of the Montblanc, always covered with snow.

A small walk from the castle, you can arrive here crossing the Duck's Gardens and enjoy the views.
You will find here, probably, the best picture in Nyon: the Roman Pillars with the Leman lake and the Alps. If you are an Instagram fan, you will enjoy taking pictures from here.

    Leman Lake Museum

You have two nice museums in Nyon, Leman Lake Museum and Roman Museum. It depends on what you like, you can go to one or another.
The Leman Lake Museum is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the lake, the history, and culture around it. Do you know that there was a submarine at the lake? Definitely worth it to get deeper into Leman's life.

    Le Vieux Bourg

Welcome to Saint-Prex. This tiny village is one of my favorite treasures in the lake. The medieval streets and houses will transport you to another time. In the center of the village there is this wonderful restaurant where you will have lunch. If the weather is nice, you can enjoy the terrace, something I highly recommend to you.

    Lausanne Cathedral

This gothic stile cathedral is one of the marvels of Lausanne. If you think it is beautiful outside, get ready to visit the inside. The amazing and colorful stained-glass windows are a delicate craftsmanship.
You can also go to the top of the tower. From the esplanade outside you will have one of the best viewpoints of Lausanne.

The most beautiful square in Lausanne, if you ask me. In here you will find the oldest fountain in the city, the figure represent the justice. In front, you will see a wall clock, every hour from 9:00 to 19:00 the clock show figures representing the history of the region.
Every Wednesday and Saturday morning, you can witness the farmer's market, that turn the square and the streets around to a party.

It is time to enjoy a relaxing experience, let's go to taste the Lavaux vine in one of the traditional vineyards.
