You go to Khoboy cape - the northernmost point of Olkhon. On your way there, stop by the village of Peschanaya (or Peschanoye).
This is not just another picturesque place. At the end of the 1930s, a correctional labor colony was established here, which was part of the Gulag system. There were no political exiles here. The only people brought to the camp were thieves and hooligans who worked on fishing boats and to clean the bottom of Lake Baikal. The remains of the camp have survived to this day. If you choose an excursion, leave a whole day for it too.In Khuzhir you will definitely meet excursion bureaus or guides in a couple of days, they will offer you the most suitable excursion to Khoboy cape.
Traveling on a loaf is an unforgettable adventure, and the ear, which you will be cooked during the excursion for lunch will simply drive you crazy.

The way to Khoboy cape is very difficult: hills, potholes, forest roads. It is especially difficult to pass after rain. Reward for suffering will be gorgeous views, which will bring even the toughest tourist to tears.
The way to the cape can take up to an hour and a half. If you are confident in your car, prepare for the trip in advance: you can get a permit to enter the Baikal National Park (where Khoboy is located) on the website.

On the way back, visit Cape Shunthe-Levy, which is called "Cape of Love. According to the locals, childless Buryat couples used to come here and beg the spirits to grant them a child. The belief in the magic power of this cape has survived to this day. So if you want to have a boy, go to the left rock, and "for a girl" go to the right side. And if you're not thinking about having kids yet (or already!), just enjoy the views: they're amazing here!

Good morning! If you have to leave for Irkutsk today and don't have time to explore the northern part of the island, don't feel bad! You have an incredible morning ahead of you.
The first thing to do is head to the local art gallery, which features works by local artisans - there are paintings, ceramics, jewelry, and much, much more. It's a great place to buy souvenirs.

The main attraction on Olkhon, of course, is nature, which does not lose its colors at any time of the year. But there is something for art lovers on the island, too.
Near the Huzhir port, at the old fish factory, a collection of rusty ships has turned into a real art-space. And all this is thanks to the Irkutsk artist Stepan Shobolov, who gave the dilapidated barges a second life. There is a "space" ship, and many-meter-long fish skeletons, and funny comics. It was cool and unusual.

For lunch, check out the Dalai Café. It's a popular place, which is understandable: it's cozy, clean, tasty, and inexpensive. Try here tsuyvan (Mongolian dish of homemade noodles and meat), chebureks, and homemade carrot cake.

Finally, stay on the shore of Lake Hanhoi at Cape Elgay. In summer, the water in the lake is very well heated. Tourists come here to bathe, preferring the lake to the cold water of Baikal.
There is also a garden of stones at Yelgai: on top of the hill, large and small stones are stacked in an amazing pattern. Such a landscape is very reminiscent of "obo" - a place of worship of local spirits. By the way, archeologists once found ritual complexes and ancient burials on the cape, so everything falls into place.

The next point is Shara-Shulun Cape. From here you can see a beautiful panorama of the Strait and the Seaside Ridge, reflected in the waters of Lake Baikal.
The best view from this point is the island of Ogoi and the Stupa of Enlightenment, an energy point for the Buryats. You can reach the island only by boat. You should definitely visit Ogoi next time, but in the meantime you can admire it from the distance.

On the way back, you can't help but encounter the ferry again (or still again).
Hopefully you won't encounter any lines, but even if you do, remember your most memorable moments of the trip, take notes and chat with loved ones.

Not far from the crossing there is a monument to Tramp. Cast in bronze, the hero of a famous song ("Through the wild snows of Transbaikalia, where gold is washed in the mountains... ") has become a symbol of the unification of the three regions: Transbaikalia, Buryatia, and the Angara region.

Dinner time! Stop by the cafe "White Month". Here you will be fed with simple Russian food and Buryat delicacies. Experienced tourists believe that this place cooks the best poses on the way to the Little Sea. We willingly believe it!
