Pet friendly horses at the farmland of Rakkestad Rural partially open-air museum situated close to Bygdetunveien in Rakkestad town, named Bygdetunet where you will find out how the life of local village people on the traditional farm in the region of Østfold looked like few centuries ago where you will see the 11red timber themed houses like the living room — Filtvedt from 18th century, storehouse (Stabburet), barn, all kept in the original traditional form — created by Svein Haugse, a gardener who wanted to preserve the cultural heritage of the Rakkestad.

In the picturesque Folkenburg museum complex opened in 1936, you will instantly feel like being taken back in time when you step in one of the authentic homesteads from 18th century with characteristic red painted facade and see the various objects (from the area of Indre Østfold) used in the old Norwegian times in the agriculture or everyday life like furniture, clothes, personal item or the vehicles pulled by the horse. It is believed that in 13th century the son of the king, Håkon Håkonsson, was born here, and the land was used as a place of worshiping Norse gods in ancient the pre-Christian times.
