The city of Modena is famous for being the birthplace of Luciano Pavarotti and Enzo Ferrari. As this itinerary is focused on cars, the first suggested destination to visit is the Enzo Ferrari Museum.
Part of the museum is housed in the house where Enzo Ferrari was born. In 1920, he convinced his mother to sell the house to buy the first racing car and in 2014 it was recovered and converted into a museum.
The museum has two parts, a smaller one where the original workshop and the office where he worked used to be. And a much larger and modern one where you can see many cars and a video with the history of Enzo Ferrari and the cavallino rampante.

For driving fanatics who dream of driving on a racetrack, the Ferrari Museums have teamed up with the Modena Autodrome to allow you to drive your car there for 15 minutes. Get ready for the curves, straights and inclines.

You can leave your car in a car park in the city centre and walk around some of the old town while you look for a place to have lunch.

Walk along Via Emilia to the city's main square: Piazza Grande. There, you will find the typical buildings of this region of Italy with galleries and arches, the palazzo comunale (town hall), the palazzo dell'arcivescovado (archbishop's palace), the Cathedral, the Ghirlandina (the bell tower) and some details.
Among them the pietra ringadora (a rectangular stone that served as a place for orators in the Middle Ages and later as a place of punishment for debtors, among other functions) and the bonissima, the statue of a female figure.
The idea is to take a short walk around the square to appreciate its details and architecture, but it will depend on the car-related activities you have decided to do.

One of the places where you can stop and spend more time if you are interested is the Duomo of Modena, considered one of the most beautiful in Italy, and the Torre Ghirlandina (Bell Tower), which can be climbed for panoramic views of the city.
Visits are not allowed during masses, so the best time to visit is between 10:30 and 17:00.

In the streets perpendicular to the square, such as Via Coltellini or Via della Torre, you will find several places to have lunch. One of the most recommended is Ristoramte da Danilo, where you can taste the typical food of Modena.

Return to the parking to collect your car and continue your journey.

If you have time and are interested in the subject of singing, you can visit the Luciano Pavarrotti House Museum, the place where this renowned maestro spend his best years.
Come back for the car and drive a few minutes to the outskirts of the city. There is parking space there.

The next suggested destination is the Ferrari Museum in the nearby town of Maranello with the great interactive exhibition of history of the Ferrari. The significant part of the museum dedicated to the Formula 1.
In the museum, you can see all the evolution of the Ferrari racing cars, including a room with the Formula 1 champion cars.

You can take a simple walk through the city centre of Maranello.
One of the places to see is the sculpture of the rampant horse, the symbol of Ferrari. This 5 metre high stainless steel statue was donated by the Albanian sculptor Helidon Xhixha to the Municipality of Maranello.
It was placed in the roundabout one day after the victory in the 2003 Formula 1 World Championship.

Almost opposite the roundabout is the Church of Saint Blaise, a medieval church whose date of construction is not very well known because it has undergone many changes over time. You can see it from the outside and take some photographs.

The statue of Enzo Ferrari is a monument donated by one of his sons to the city, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the creator of Ferrari.
The statue is a bronze column representing the most significant stages of Enzo Ferrari's life. This is the place where Ferrari fans meet every time the team wins a championship. Opposite the statue is also the town hall building.
After this walk, come back to the car for the return trip to Bologna. Beforehand, you can have dinner on the way.
