Get back to your car via boat from the nearby San Basilio station to the Tronchetto Mercato.

When you reach the town of Bolzano, park your car to take a break from the road and go out for a walk.

Have a stroll along the lovely streets and squares as Plaza delle Erbe, colourful and full of life. Bolzano was once a city of merchants and today is a city full of art and spectacles, you can feel it in their lively street life. You can visit Walther Square, another gorgeous place in the city, where you will see the Palazzo Menz, a beautiful example of the city architecture.

A must-visit sight is the ancient Bolzano Cathedral in Romanesque style. It’s decorated with a number of wonderful frescoes and ornaments inside. Moreover, when inside the building, you can also see two grand organs at the altar. Take a short walk to see its mosaics and stained-glass windows, and then go for lunch.

Go for lunch in one of the local restaurants awarded with a Michelin star. You still have a long way to go, and it’s best to satisfy your hunger in a nice place with a great selection of food on the menu. For instance, you should definitely try the carpaccio of sous vide cooked rabbit or mackerel filet with herbs bread crumbs. They’re delicious!

Before going back to Switzerland, visit the interesting Italian town of Merano. You can park your car at one of the parking locations near the historical centre.

From the recommended parking location, go north to the Passer river and enjoy the views of the landscape and the town from a scenic bridge that leads to the historical part of the town.

The symbol of the city was built when Merano started to be a famous Spa centre for the Austrian aristocracy that visited the city. The most famous visitor was Empress Elisabeth. The building is used for events and concerts. The surrounding gardens are also gorgeous.

The actual building that you can contemplate is from XV century and was built in Gothic style. One of the most interesting aspects of the church is the sun clock tower and the frescos that you can find in the inside as much as on the outside.

Walk along one of the most scenic streets of the town, which is Via Portici. You will find many cafés, stores and architectural landmarks here. Feel the local atmosphere and come to the Mein Beck to grab a cup of coffee and some pastries for take away.

Get back to your car and continue the journey back home.

Have some spare time to drive along the roads of the nature reserve. The road in this section is spectacular and captivating, with many viewpoints where you can stop to get spellbound for the wild nature.

Again, you are going through a worthy road. This national park is part of the worldwide UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, an important distinction for unique natural places. You will cross the Fuorn Pass, an alpine mountain pass that will leave you speechless.
