Mestre - the gate of Venice

As you know, Venice is located on islands. And that is why everyone who arrives here by plane or by train, bus, or car must first visit its "satellite" city, located on the mainland - Mestre. Sometimes it is called the "Venice of the mainland.
Also in the vicinity of this city is the main airport "Venezia - Marco Polo".
For this reason, Mestre is the most convenient place to visit the famous city of bridges and canals. You can come here at the end of a vacation at the seaside or ski resort to visit Venice before flying back, or vice versa, you can start your multi-day trip to Italy from here.

Venezia Mestre Railway Station (XVY) (Stazione Venezia Mestre)

What is more convenient for Mestre - in one place is a railway station and bus stop, where often go trains and buses to the "island" (just 15 minutes), to the nearest airports, as well as to neighboring cities - Padua, Verona, Treviso, Bologna, the Dolomite Alps or the Adriatic resorts.
Here, literally "across the street", you will find many hotels where you can comfortably and relatively inexpensively (compared to the prices in Venice itself) stay for a couple of nights and find parking. Most experienced travelers, especially those traveling with luggage or by car, do so.

Hotel Paris is one of those options. It is a small, clean hotel with wifi and "Italian standard" cost. There are other hotels in the neighborhood that are about the same or more expensive. There is plenty to choose from.
Plan on staying two nights. You can check in late at night and then have a full day to explore Venice. After a long and interesting walk, you can easily make it back to your room and get a good night's rest and sleep before you continue your trip.

    Piazza Ferretto

If you arrive early enough in Mestre, after the check-in at the hotel and a short rest, go for a walk in the city center. For tourists it is not as attractive as its famous neighbor, but as a "warm-up" will do. Especially since you can definitely find a suitable restaurant for lunch or dinner there.

I advise you not to stay too long on the walk. Go back to the hotel early and have a good rest. Tomorrow you will have a difficult but very interesting day.
