High up in the mountains (and this is not the beginning of the table toast) and far away from Yerevan (250 kilometers, to be exact) is the Tatev Monastery. It is most convenient to go there by cab or by car, as the bus makes too many stops on the way. Here is the plan: rent a car and leave Yerevan early in the morning. In about 20 km you will see and feel another, traditional Armenia. Here are the signs: a herd of cows crosses the road, locals pass by on donkeys, and the air is so clean that you could drink it with a mug.
The longest cableway in the Guinness Book of Records, by the way, leads to the monastery. It's a little scary to ride, but in just a few minutes you'll get one of the most breathtaking panoramas of your life in exchange for the fear. Etymology buffs will love the fact that "Tatev" translates from Armenian as "give wings."

For centuries, the watchtower above the Arsnadzor Gorge played a strategically important role as a signal tower in case of enemy attack. The watchmen, on spotting strangers, sounded the alarm bells that resounded through the nearest villages and alerted the inhabitants of the invasion.
And today it is a must-see to fully appreciate the pristine beauty of the local landscape.

The cozy cafe looks very eco-friendly and fits perfectly into the overall atmosphere of the surrounding area. The cuisine here is also excellent, authentic-Armenian, many dishes cooked on an open fire, salads and side dishes with fresh local vegetables, and, of course, homemade pomegranate wine.

To unwind after a long drive, take a stroll in the city's oldest park, English Park was given its name in the 19th century for its gracious landscaping and popularity with high society.
Today, the park also remains a favorite place for residents and visitors. On the territory of the park are a rose garden, children's playground, several monuments and sculptures.

If you want soulful service and home cuisine, welcome to the restaurant "At Artush's". When visiting this place, you feel as if you are visiting an old good friend. The owner of the restaurant personally welcomes guests and helps them to choose dishes.
The food here is just excellent. Everyone who happened to visit the restaurant recommends ordering lamb meat and homemade raspberry wine. And if you like strong drinks, don't deny yourself the pleasure of tasting apricot vodka.
