The journey to Historical Shaqra is a journey of interaction between the past and the present. Shaqra heritage town is the recreation of the ancient city, which is estimated to be over 1,500 years old; and it has been rebuilt as it was before. During this trip, visitors can pass through the Qasab Salt Fields, where they can see groundwater loaded with salt being extracted from the ground, and then the salt being extracted from water as it was done hundreds of years ago. Then, go to Shaqra heritage town where visitors could walk down the streets of the old city and see the old-fashioned architecture and the way the buildings are joined together. Visitors could visit its mosques, councils, old markets, museums, and Hlewa Heritage Market. After that, visitors could go to the old city of Ushaiger, where on the way, the old airport could be seen. Visitors can walk between the alleys of old houses that were rebuilt in Ushaiger village, visit the private museums, and then visit the park, where they can have a panoramic view of the Ushaiger heritage village, its farms and the modern city of Ushaiger.

    The Historical Village

The Shaqra heritage town was established more than 1,500 years ago, where poems from the “Jahilia Era” or pre-Islamic era were found to praising this town and its beauty. Many parts of this town, its mosques, schools, wells and main markets have been rebuilt. When you visit Shaqra, and as you wander through the town it is as though you are travelling back in time hundreds of years. You can watch the creative engineering of the people of the region with respect to designing the town in general. The town was designed with sewers and rainwater drainage so that the town would not flood in the event of heavy rain. Moreover, you will have the chance to observe the beautiful interior designs and drawings inside old houses.

    Subaie Heritage House

This palace is an ancient palace that was the residence of the Region Prince in the era of King Abdul Aziz. Much of it collapsed as a result of the recent heavy rains in the area and is under reconstruction. The palace was built in 1327H and consists of 32 rooms, containing antique historical holdings. The palace was also the residence of King Abdul Aziz whenever he passed by Shaqra on his way to or from Makkah Al-Mukarramah. In addition to that, it was a site to equip and prepare the armies that pass by Shaqra during the unification of Saudi Arabia, a reception site to welcome official delegations, and also the headquarters of “Baitulmal”, the treasury in Shaqra town.

    Ushaiqer Heritage Village

Ushaiger, which translates into “little blonde”, was named after the mountains that surround it. It is an ancient city that is estimated to be 1,500 years old and has been rebuilt to look the same since its establishment so that the visitor can have a similar experience and relive the period in which the people of the region have lived during that time. Some of its people have completely rebuilt their ancestral homes, and on weekends they open their doors to visitors to host and welcome them and offer them Arabic coffee and dates.
