Bohus Fortress & Tiveden National Park

This is the second biggest city in lovely Sweden. You may hear this city being called "little London", which was given to the place from the donations that were from Englishmen and Scotsmen in the 1800s. The first resident of this city wasn't actually a swede, it was a dutchman!
So, let's explore its surroundings and hidden gems.

Park your car on the street and start your journey to a wonderful spot! Utbynäs View is about 300 meters away from this point.

Start the day with extravagant views from this amazing rocky point. There are even some nice trails around here as well. So, if you want, take a walk around in the nature or just bathe in the sun while taking in these beautiful views.
To get here, just start walking up the hill and in no time you'll be taking in this view. This path may be a little hard to recognize. But from the point where you parked, start heading up the little stoney hill with patches of nature.

It's time to pick up your car and head on the road once again!

On your journey, have a nice fresh cup of coffee and a scrumptious meal. This will liven you up and prepare you for your adventures that are waiting for you ahead! Plus, this would be a good time to buy a snack, so you have something on the road to munch on.

Venture here with the whole family and take in the beauty of the water below. If you come here during the off season, it's free. But during the busy time, there's a fee. As I wandered the stonewalled fortress, the views were what left me breathless. Every direction was filled with an abundance of green. It felt untouched, as though I had been brought to the past before cars. If you love the time of knights and castles, then this is a place for you!

If you want, you can book a tour online. The open hours fluctuate by season. At the end of October - March, it's closed. So, depending on when you're travelling, this may not be open. Please check opening hours in advance.
If this is the case, then I suggest going to Utsiktsplatsen Fontin-Fästningsparken (The Fontin Fortress Park Viewpoint). Here, you can see the wonderful fortress and take in the beauty of nature surrounding you. It's open year round. The parking lot is very near this place and it's wheelchair accessible!

After driving for a bit, I think it's time for a fika! This is a common thing to do in Sweden. It's when you have a break or relaxing time drinking coffee or tea with friends or family. This can happen whenever throughout the day and it's a pleasant time to just relax and talk. So, you can do this after having a warm meal as well! The ambiance at this cafe will take you through time. While you enjoy a piping hot beverage, you can try out some of their delicious sweets.

This is a great place for a break from the road. Stretch your legs and take a quick walk around and enjoy the wilderness with each step. There are hiking trails of all difficulties and areas where you can exercise.

This is a great place to stop to grab some appetizing food that you can have later or now. Then you'll have a yummy meal to enjoy while you're in the National Park. Try their scrumptious strawberries with their rich chocolate cake for a dessert. Along with waiting for your meal, you can see, this is a great place to learn more about the National Park, and in the future, you can rent a cabin here or go on a tour.

Once you arrive to Tiveden, they actually have different entrances, but you can walk through it or take a bus to the other side of the National Park. This is a good spot to park and enjoy the wonders of nature.

Once we stepped into this enchanting National Park, I was blown away by the wooden paths that led into an unforgettable place. It felt as though magic blew in the air. We walked to the glacier road with an interesting story and ventured deeper into the forest.
When you plan on hiking, check when the sun sets so that you don't end up trying to get back to your car when it's hard to see. But in Sweden in the summer, there's no worry. That's when you have sunlight up to 18 hours in the month of June.
