Athens - Corinth Canal - Epidaurus - Tholo

Start the day with a visit to the pearl of Greece, the ancient Acropolis. The Acropolis opens at 8 am. I advise you to be here no later than 9 o'clock, especially in summer, so it is not so hot. Entrance tickets are better to buy in advance, online, so you do not have to stand in line. You can leave the car in the hotel parking lot, and you can get to the Acropolis by subway (Acropolis station).

Be sure to climb the Areopagus Hill, where you can take great pictures of the Acropolis, Lycavittos Hill, the ancient Agora, and a panorama of all of Athens.

Through Plaka, the ancient district of Athens at the foot of the Acropolis, descend to Ermu Street.

The most famous street of the capital is the pedestrian street Ermu. It is named after Hermes, the god of commerce, and, as one would expect, it is lined with a huge number of large and small stores and cafes.

Every hour on Syntagma Square, in front of the Parliament building, there is a change of guard of the Presidential Guard, composed of colorful handsome eusones. And on Sundays from 10.45 to 11.15 there is an honorary change, with a march, an orchestra, and a full guard. I advise you to arrive early to get a better seat.

We take the car from the parking lot and go to the Peloponnese peninsula.

Stop for photos at the impressive Corinth Canal connecting the Aegean and Ionian Seas. The canal is 6 km long and the walls are almost 80 meters high. Extreme lovers can even jump from one of the bridges, there is bungee jumping (must be booked in advance).

The cult of the god Asclepius was formed here in the VI-V century BC and Epidaurus became a place of pilgrimage for many suffering cures. There were wonderful buildings - the temple of Artemis, the temple of Asclepius, thermal pools and a stadium. A theater was also built here in which performances also helped the healing process. The theater is famous for its unique acoustics and still hosts theatrical performances and concerts.

Accommodation in the resort town of Tolo. Tolo Beach was awarded the "Blue Flag" once again in 2020. The beach is sandy, the entrance to the sea is gentle. Rest and have dinner in one of the local taverns.
