Snorkel and Sun In Key Largo
The first day on this four-day route is spent in Key Largo, the northernmost of the Florida Keys and just about an hour and a half south of Miami. Slather on the sunscreen -- most of today will be outside and in the water.
John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park
Open Details
Dive right into Key Largo at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the first underwater park in the United States, spanning 70 square miles. You can don your mask and snorkel and see what’s living under the water’s surface right from the shoreline, but we suggest joining one of the park’s snorkeling tours for access to coral reefs teeming with brightly colored tropical fish.
The park’s snorkeling tours last two and a half hours and are quite popular, so you'll want to be sure to plan ahead and make reservations. Five trips are available daily, and today you're heading out on the 10:30 a.m. voyage.
Be sure to bring along your mask and snorkel if you have a set (rentals are available), as well as a towel, a hat, sunglasses, and some water and snacks to enjoy afterwards. Apply reef-safe sunscreen ahead of your tour to ensure the coral survives and thrives for generations to come.
