Farm Sanctuary & Seneca Lake

Stop here for a quick breakfast en route from your hotel to Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen. Open 7am-2pm, closed Tuesday and Wednesday

Head south to Watkins Glen, near the lower tip of Seneca Lake where the rolling hills are home to 600 rescued cows, pigs, goats, turkeys and more at Farm Sanctuary.
On an educational, hour-long tour, you can visit these rescued animals, learn about the realities that all animals raised for food face in factory farms, and hear inspiring stories of survival. Stop by the visitor center which has additional information, displays, and also cruelty-free gifts for sale.
Guided tours at Farm Sanctuary are offered May through October, last about an hour, and start promptly. Plan to arrive 15 minutes ahead of your tour. Book a tour on the website.

After your tour, head over to Captain Bill's on Seneca Lake where you can embark on a 50-minute boat cruise on the lake. You can enjoy lunch on board the boat and a scenic, relaxing ride. Book your cruise online.

You can't come to the Finger Lakes without tasting the region's wine! Hire a designated driver at Main Street Drivers — they will provide a chauffeur for a minimum of three hours, providing you supply the car — then embark upon a few stops along the Seneca Lake and Cayuga Lake Wine Trails, the first being Red Newt Cellars Winery. Next, navigate north to Sheldrake Point Winery on the western shore of Cayuga Lake, famous for its Reislings.

Just north of Sheldrake Point Winery you'll find Thirsty Owl Wine Company and its 40 acres of vineyards. Known for its excellent food, Thirsty Owl would be a good spot for a snack to tide you over until dinner as you sip.

FLX Table, an innovative, 12-seat only, dinner party-style restaurant with a farmhouse table and mismatched chairs is your next stop. Opened in 2016, FLX is known for its experimental dishes with the local harvest, wine and food pairings, and fun vibe. Grab an early 5:45pm reservation and arrive a half-hour early, then enjoy the experience.
