Just 300 away we find the beautiful Clock Tower. Located close to Palazzo Cavarretta on Via Torrearsa, the Tower marks the limit of the oldest part of the city, which was accessed through the Porta Oscura, a passage that still exists today, despite the transformations undergone following the construction of the facade of the aforementioned palace, made in 1678.
And it is precisely by looking up and diverting attention from the prospect of the seventeenth-century building towards the narrow adjacent alley that, almost timidly, the beautiful astronomical clock appears, one of the oldest in Europe, designed and built by the Trapani master Giuseppe Mennella, in 1596. Constructed in marble with lead details, the clock is made up of two circular dials with edges in blue stone to represent the sky: the Lunario, characterized by a central hole to represent the Earth, and the dial of the Sun.

In the afternoon, I suggest to go the small and fascinating village of Erice, a unique medieval town located on the top of a mountain 760 meters above the sea level overlooking the port of Trapani; here you can visit the Castle of Venus and have a little walk through the narrow streets of the town, having a look to its marvelous ancient buildings and churches.
