Detroit to Michigan's Thumbcoast: Cruising the Coast From Port Huron to Bay City

On this trip, you'll experience the natural beauty of Michigan's scenic eastern “thumb” coast. Cruising along M-25, a picturesque coastal highway, you'll visit beautiful small resort towns on the shore, including the quaint town of Lexington, Michigan, the natural beauty in Port Austin, Michigan, and the relaxing views in Bay City, Michigan. On day one, you'll start your morning in Port Huron, Michigan, watching the freighters and visiting a lighthouse, then you'll relax on the beach in Lakeport and end the day on the shores of Lexington. On day two, you'll immerse yourself in nature by kayaking in Port Austin in the morning. In the afternoon, you'll cool off in Bay City, where the city meets the lake, and enjoy a mini-game of putt-putt right by the water.
This trip features a visit to one of the region's natural wonders, Turnip Rock, accessible only by boat or kayak. You'll spend a lot of time outdoors. As such, this trip is weather-dependent (travel is recommended from May through October) and is best suited for older children.
