Gorliz Lighthouse, Gorgeous Getxo Views and Marvellous Engineering at Viscaya

The hike to and from the Basque Countries tallest lighthouse, Faro de Gorliz, takes 1.5-2 hours. Along the way you can see WWII bunkers and tunnels too.
Public parking convenient for this hike can be found next to Gorliz Hospital.

If you're a hardcore GOT fan, take yourself to King's Landing at Playa de Muriola! Grab yourself a picnic to eat at this beautiful filming location.

If you've had your fill of Game of Thrones references, head to Galea Lurmuturreko for your picnic instead. Use the parking at Punta Galea (Galea Errepidea, 38) OR Parcheggio Camper e Auto (Punta Galea, 48993) to walk along this paved hillside trail. There are plenty of places to stop and admire the view and lighthouse.

The views back down towards Santurtzi from Paseo Punta Galea is stunning. If you fancy a bit more of a walk, head 15 minutes further down the trail to Mirador Aixerrota - a wonderful hilltop windmill near the camper parking suggested above.

Use this carpark to explore Getxo. It is within walking distance of Vizcaya Bridge and many restaurants.

The incredible engineering of the Vizcaya Bridge must be experienced in person. This iron bridge the world's first to carry people & traffic on a high suspended gondola. You can access the footbridge and audio guide to learn of the history (ticketed entry). Or just take the gondola (by car or by foot) for a small fee.
After this adventure, enjoy a promenade along the marinas on either side of the estuary.

I'm going to let you into a little secret. If you're looking for a perfect Instagrammable view of Viscaya Bridge, wander along to the lookout point behind (on the river side) of the Andra Maria Basilica.

Old town Portugalete is full of great bars and restaurants. Café La Botica offers a relaxed atmosphere and is very convenient for your return trip across the bridge.
Please, note the place is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

If you want a truly special location for your dinner, book a table at Palacio San Joseren. This gorgeous building is the former residence of architect José Luis de Oriol, and was built in 1916. It is now a restaurant and wedding venue.
Kindly note that the venue is open at this time of the day only Thursday to Saturday.
